Tenjo

On 15, Apr 2013 | No Comments | In Architecture, Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

We went to visit Tenjo this weekend. A village at about 1h30 from Bogotá by car.
It was Sunday and a market was taking place in the center of the village. People were playing games like tejo, trompo and many more typical games from Colombia. Very nice atmosphere.

And look at those colours…

In the market, I bought Yacón’s tea (In French, Yacón is “Poire de terre”, otherwise, it is called “Smallanthus sonchifolius”), which has apparently lots of virtues. And the root alone is good!

Anolaima

On 08, Apr 2013 | No Comments | In Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

For the mysterious product that will come out very soon, we went to a beautiful farm in Anolaima, at something like 2 hours from Bogotá. They have all sorts of animals but also coffee plantations. They also have a school.

It’s called “La Granja de Ildefonso.”

I am finally godmother! Welcome to Daphné! That’s when I think it’s sad that I am so far away…

Chicaque – the cloud forest

On 25, Mar 2013 | 2 Comments | In Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

If you take your car, in an hour, you are outside Bogotá in a beautiful park called the Chicaque. It’s called the Cloud Forest (Bosque de las nuves).

It feels weird because you are in a cloud all the time which gives a mysterious atmosphere to the place. You can also camp there. The place is massive (we had time to do a 10th in half day).

Fantastic place to get outside the massive city quite quickly and breathe!

Website of the place: Chicaque.

Calle 71 con 7

On 28, Jan 2013 | One Comment | In Bogotá, Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

A good walk to do from Bogotá. You can start in calle 71 with 7, and get to this beautiful footpath. In less than an hour, you are on the top and can see the whole city. You can even be lucky and see the snow top of the Nevado. This time, I wasn’t.

Some (the ones at 6.45) surely take less than half an hour to go up. They are running those bas*****!!!! …while I am suffering, having difficutlies breathing because of the altitude!

A very nice way to get away from the city. A link to know more about this kind of walk.

Zipaquirá

On 23, Jan 2013 | 2 Comments | In Architecture, Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

Zipaquirá is a town very close to Bogotá. It holds, they say, a “wonder of Colombia”, which is the Salt Cathedral. If you want to know about it, you can check it here. What I was interested in this trip was the village itself.

A colonial architecture with a good percentage of light green associated with a touch of orange tiles make the whole thing quite harmonious.

Orange in Armenia

On 22, Jan 2013 | One Comment | In Architecture, Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

That was the last bit of Armenia…

…Well actually not really. I forgot to mention the oldest coffee machine of the region. It is located in the “bar del centro” in the village of Pijao. The guy who’s doing this is quite passionate about it and was proud to serve me a capuccino. Nice.

Cafe

On 16, Jan 2013 | 4 Comments | In Illustration, Photography, Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

Coffee is obviously the most important topic of the region. And there are some nice places to go and discover how to grow coffee.

The region and the plantations are quite beautiful… Everything is so green!

I liked very much this cup’s design in enamel. Unbreakable for the drinks of the workers who have to go and work far from the farm.

However, we went to a place that was quite disappointing: they didn’t explain well what happens to the coffee seeds once you picked it up. Except when you drink it. I give you the address in case you don’t find anything or to advice you not to go I suppose. Recuca.

Botanical garden of Quindío

On 15, Jan 2013 | No Comments | In Photography, Plants, Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

Very nice botanical garden close to Armenia, in Calarcá to be more precise. It looks like a jungle as it is more in a natural state than usual botanical gardens. They also have a beautiful place with butterflies.

This is the coolest bean I have ever seen: you can even sort your waste!

More information about this place, find out here.

Salento

On 14, Jan 2013 | 2 Comments | In Architecture, Photography, Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

Salento is a beautiful village on the top of the mountain which deserves to be seen.

The architecture is playing with the colours, and I have never seen so many different types of doors. It was quite inspiring to be honest.

In Salento, you can find many craft markets, restaurants, and you have the possibity to go up the mountain and see the whole village from above.

More information about Salento here.

Armenia

On 11, Jan 2013 | One Comment | In Architecture, Photography, Tourism | By ClaireGuilloton

Doing a bit of tourism for a couple of days.

This region of Armenia is quite amazing. They have interesting colours on the architecture. The hotel where we were, interesting mix of colours.

If you are interested in the hotel, it was very clean, beautiful, and quite cheap for the region: Mi Monaco.
